A map of Brazil by Jacques-Nicolas Bellin. Titled Carte Du Bresil, Prem. Partie, Depuis la Riviere des Amazones jusqua la Baye de Tous les Saints, Pour Servir a l’Histoire Generale des Voyages, Eschelle de Lieues Communes de France, Tire de la Carte de l’Amerique de Mr. Danville, this 18th century depiction features the northeast coast of the country, with the inland portion labeled as being inhabited by Tapuyas, or ‘outsiders’. Printed ‘Tom XIV’ in the lower left margin and ‘No. 6’ to the lower right. Presented under glass and matted in a wooden frame with hanging wire to back.
Condition
-Mat is askew in frame and has outlining in pen. Map has some water stains/discoloration. Glass requires cleaning.
