Tavík František Šimon Original Signed Etching "Ovocny Trh"
Item Details
An original signed etching on pale brown paper by listed Czech artist Tavík František Šimon (1877 – 1946), titled Ovocny Trh or Fruit Market. The print depicts several figures milling beneath a stone archway at a streetside market. The piece is created in loose, thin linework that is layered to create remarkable dimension and contrast across the image. The print is signed in pencil to the lower left and is numbered ‘9’ and stamped with the artist’s seal to the lower left. The piece is matted in off-white and presented behind glass in a thin wooden frame with gold tone finish and a hanging wire. A sticker from Closson’s Gallery in Cincinnati is attached to the verso.
Condition
- paper and matting are slightly yellowed with age.
