This photo from Sunday Drives Photography’s Main Street, Ohio series is indicative of Jennifer Smith’s attraction to and love of spotlighting the ordinary and often overlooked. When asked to consider a piece of this special fundraising event, this photo instantly came to mind. Three weathered chairs, sitting outside an antique shop in Arcanum, Ohio are gentle reminders for us to slow down and enjoy the view for a while. The colorful metal chairs resurrect memories of warm, summer days spent as a child eating cherries from her grandfather’s tree. A large yellow and black railway crossing sign reflects in a window behind them. Unsigned. The piece is matted in white and set behind glass in a black plastic frame. Hangs from a wire on the reverse.

Cincinnati native and long time lover of driving backroads, Jennifer Smith began taking photos to promote her gardens that flourished in Ault Park. Garden blogs punctuated with her photography soon followed. As her desire to explore small towns, country roads and historic routes grew, so did Sunday Drives Photography. Her work is available online, in the shop at the Civic Garden Center of Cincinnati and at the Pendleton Art Center in OTR, Cincinnati.
