Vintage Collotype after 1841 Hand-Painted Silhouette
Item Details
A vintage collotype on paper reproduction of an original 1841 ink-drawn silhouette. The print depicts two silhouetted men standing facing one another in a flat, rocky landscape. Both of their names are printed illegibly to the lower margin; one’s last name seems to be ‘Lawler’ and the other seems to be ‘Hart.’ The piece is dated and illegible phrase are printed in-plate to the lower left. The print is double-matted in metallic gold and white linen and is presented behind glass in a wooden frame with black and gold tone finishes. A hanging wire is attached to the verso.
Condition
- paper has yellowed with age and is very warped. Light scratching and wear across frame.
