Antique Austrian Court Box

Item Details

An antique wood and gesso Austrian Court box. The box has a hinged lid with a cream colored silk lined interior. The box is made of wood with a heavily textured gesso material to mimic tree bark. The dark brown piece has a scrolled floral and foliate design on the top. The box has brass hardware with the front closure having an embossed scroll design. The underside retains original ‘Austrian Courts Boxes’ label. Dates to the Victorian era.

Condition

- chip to the front bottom, minor nicks, chips, scratches, scuffs and wear throughout, some nails/tacks are not original.
