A collection of American historical medals. This collection features a U.S. mint pewter commemorative medal of General Horatio Gates in a black display case titled America’s First Medals. Also included is a collection of three Danburry Mint sterling silver medals that depict America’s early national history. A ‘1796 Washington’s Farewell Address’, a ‘1806 Discovery of Pike’s Peak’ and a ‘1815 Jackson Victorious at New Orleans’. These medals were issued from 1973-1976 with each piece having an edge marking consisting if the text ‘Danbury Mint’ followed by two hallmarks and then the inscription ‘sterling silver’. Total silver medal weight is 3.514 ozt.
