Josef Nuyttens Original 1946 Hand-Tinted Etching "Jeanne"
Item Details
An original 1946 signed hand-tinted etching by well-listed Belgium artist Josef Nuyttens (1885 – 1960), titled Jeanne. The image depicts a glamorous young woman dressed in a formal blue taffeta ball gown, wearing elbow-length black velvet gloves. She sits perched amidst flowers and drapery, as she holds a wide-brimmed sun hat in one delicate hand and rests her face in the other as she gazes dreamily at the viewer. Title, artist signature and date are signed in pencil to the lower margin. A blind stamp is embossed, partially hidden by frame, to the lower right. This work is protected behind glass in a beveled wood frame with a natural stained finish and a gilt interior edge. Additional information is attached to the verso.
Condition
- discoloration to print. Accretion on glass and mat. Finish of frame is worn along edges and corners with scratches and abrasions.
