An original watercolor on rag paper by listed French artist Raoul Monory (b. 1886). This work depicts a French village on a hill, with a church at its peak. Piece is unsigned and presented behind glass in a gold-tone wooden frame. The verso features a wire hanger and a stamp that reads, “From the Estate of Colonel Raoul Monory, Officer of the Legion of Honor.” Monory was originally a colonel in the French army and began studying art under Jean Gobaille and Etienne Dinet after his service in World War I.
