An original oil on canvas by New York based artist illustrator Charles Warde Traver (1870-1945). This romantic nocturne scene depicts the portrait of a red-haired beauty holding a bouquet of roses in her lap, sitting against a darkened landscape with moon-lit waters fading off into the background. Faintly signed in blue paint to lower center. Housed in the original aesthetic movement frame. A dust cover and wire for hanging present to the reverse.
Charles Warde Traver, or C. Warde Traver, as he signed his work, was an accomplished illustrator from Ann Arbor, Michigan, who eventually settled in New York. His most prominent works were examples such as the one offered here, nocturnal illustrations of women. Her work was oft published in popular magazines during the early 20th century.
