A Lehmann’s crawling beetle tin toy. This early edition of a crawling beetle clockwork toy made by E.P. Lehmann, number 431, walks and spreads its wings when wound. The beetle is marked ‘pat. USA Apr 23 1895’, ‘Made in Germany’ and ‘Marke Lehmann’ to the back of the body under the wings. This toy is presented in its original box.
Condition
- to fair; scratches and marks throughout; wings move when key is turned; legs do not move like they should; pivot detached on middle set of legs and head of pin to hold it in place is missing .
