This limited first edition, published in 1988 by the Franklin Library of Franklin Center, Pennsylvania, is a black hardcover with raised bands, gilt page edges and gold tone cover decoration, and features specially commissioned illustrations by Sherilyn VanValkenburgh. This edition is signed ‘Robertson Davies’ in black ink before the title page.
