A hand-knotted Nain area rug. The rug features a floral and heart pointed-round medallion in varying shades of blue, brown and white inside a navy lobed-cruciform field filled with an arabesque of palmettes, vines, and lancet leaves.The palmette and lancet leaf motif is carried through to the off-white spandrels, main border, and cream tone guard borders. Narrow blue borders separating the main border and guard borders feature cream and brown diamonds. The rug is finished with an off-white guard border and fringe on the shorter ends. Tags on the underside list the origin of the rug as Iran.
