Semi-Antique Hand-Knotted Caucasian Kazak Wool Rug
Item Details
A vibrant, semi-antique handwoven and hand-knotted Caucasian Kazak area rug, in a palette of green, dark blue, red, cream and orange. The approximately six foot square rug features a blue-green center with three large geometric decagon medallions with a variety of differently shaped flowers and geometric patterns in the field. It has an unresolved leaf and calyx main border with a cream background. One flanking border has blue and cream pinwheels on an orange ground; the other has multi-colored flower motifs on a red background. The rug has hand-tied undyed natural wool warp. The rug appears to have been restored, with blanket stitching at the fringe ends to prevent further fraying. Unmarked.
