A hand-knotted Bakhtiari wool area rug. The rug features a central medallion in a palette of indigo, powder blue, red, pink, cream, and black that sits on a deep red field. The field is populated by floral palmettes and bouquets in a matching palette as the central medallion and is enclosed by a compound, resolved border of alternating stylized cypress trees and lotus flowers with elongated, serrated leaves in a complementary palette. The main border is framed by floral guard borders in the field colors. It has overcast edges with a knotted wool fringe to either end. The rug is not tagged.
