Pair of Antique China and Brass Oil Lamps
Item Details
A pair of antique hand-painted glass and metal oil lamps. The pair date to the late nineteenth century. Both lamps have ornate cast brass or metal bases and fittings, with hand-painted glass bodies. One lamp is mint green, with hand-painted red roses. It comes with a matching globular shade, also painted with red roses. This lamp is marked ‘Royal’ to the brass gas fitting, and ‘Made in U.S. of America to the knob. It has an 1895 patent date on the brass fitting. A shorter lamp has a dark green body, painted with pale pink or white roses. It comes with a clear glass hurricane shade, but is missing its glass outer shade. This lamp is marked ’B & H’ to the cap on the top of the brass fitting, and the cast iron base is marked ‘NB’.
