An engraving with stippling on paper titled La Communion de Attala engraved by P. J Simon and delineated by Mallet Jean Baptist after an original painting by listed French artist Pierre Jerome Lordon (1780 – 1838). This piece depicts a culminating scene from the Romantic french novel Atala(1801). Father Aubry gives the communion as a last request from the main character Atala, that is dying under and altar with her romantic interest Chactas crying on her feet. Title and descriptive caption in french is present to the lower margin of the composition. Presented behind glass, housed in a wood frame with carved embellishments.
