W. Woodward Original Tonalist Oil Landscape on Composite Board
Item Details
An original late 19th to early 20th-century Tonalist oil landscape painting on composite board signed in paint to the lower right by artist W. Woodward. The image depicts an elevated view of an expanse of valleys and mountains in a rural wilderness, the setting sun glowing orange on the horizon. This painting is mounted in an antique beveled wood frame with gilt interior trim and a wire to the verso.
Condition
- some areas of inpainting along right edge. Notable loss to upper left corner of painting. Accretion on painting and frame. Edges and corners of painting are worn and dilapidated; layers of composite board are separating. Finish of frame is worn. Mitered corners of the frame are separating.
