A hand-colored lithograph on paper after an original work titled ‘Hot air balloon’ by Charles Dupont, originally published on 1790. This print was published by Bernard Picture Company Ink, New York. Depicted a hot air balloon flying over a city and figures, with a descriptive caption in french to the lower margin reading “L’ascension du ballon de Blanchard muni le premier d’un parechute de rames et d’un appareil pour le diriger – Nenilly, 1785.” Presented behind glass, beneath a blue mat, housed in a wood frame with golden tone accents.
Condition
- minor scratches to golden tone accents on frame; minor discoloration to paper; minor punctures to paper backing.
