Collection of Various Edwin M. Knowles China Plates

Item Details

A collection of five various Edwin M. Knowles China Plates decorated with reproduced paintings by various artists. The first plate titled Annie and Sandy is a limited edition side plate decorated with a reproduction of a painting by artist William Chambers. As marked to the underside, the plate number is 15786K and the item is copyrighted ‘1982 Tribune Company Syndicate, Inc., Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc.’ The Knowles China mark is also present to the underside. This plate is presented in its original Knowles box; the box contains a couple brochures about the edition and a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the President of the Knowles company.

The second side plate is titled A Kiss for Mother, and is decorated with a reproduction of a painting featuring a giraffe mother and its calf by wildlife painter Yin-Rei Hicks. As marked to the verso, this item is a limited edition with plate number 14695B. The Knowles China mark is also present to the underside and the plate is copyrighted 1982 by River Shore, Ltd. This plate is presented in its original Knowles box, which contains a brochure about the edition and a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the Executive Director of the Wildlife Society, the artist, and the Vice President of River Shore, Limited.

The third side plate is a limited edition titled _Little Boy Blue’, and is decorated with a reproduction of painting that depicts a toddler sitting in the hay by artist John McClelland. To the underside, the Knowles mark is present along with plate number 09075F; it is copyrighted 1980 by Reco International Corp. The item is presented in its original Knowles box, but does not come with a brochure or a Certificate of Authenticity.

The fourth item is a slightly larger side plate titled Tommy the Clown, and is decorated with a reproduction of a painting by John McClelland, depicting a young boy dressed as a clown with his dog at his side. To the underside, the Knowles mark is present along with plate number 5495K; it is copyrighted by Reco Internal Corp., marked as a limited edition of 100 produced in 1982. The item is presented in its original Knowles box with a brochure about the edition and a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist, the President of Reco International, and the President of the Knowles China Company.

The fifth and final side plate is titled Dreaming in the Attic, and is decorated with a reproduction of a painting featuring a young woman by Norman Rockwell. To the underside, the Knowles mark is present along with plate number 22745D. The underside also indicates that the plate comes from a limited edition of 100, and it is copyrighted by the Rockwell Society of America. It is stored in a cardboard Kodak box with a brochure about the edition and a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the President of the Rockwell Society of America.

Condition

- all in good condition; some residue to the underside of Tommy the Clown and minor wear to base rim; minor wear to the base rim of Dreaming in the Attic, small spot of residue on face of A Kiss for Mother plate; minor wear to base rim of Little Boy Blue; wear to all boxes.
