Hiroyuki Tajima Limited Edition Woodcut "The Scarlett Monument"
Item Details
A signed limited edition woodcut print titled The Scarlett Monument circa 1971, by Japanese printmaker from the Sōsaku-hanga School, Hiroyuki Tajima (田嶋 宏行, 1911–1984). Tajima is known for his abstract woodblock prints that feature luminous colors, bold compositions, and a strong sense of balance inspired by his Zen Buddhist beliefs. This print depicts a large red rectangle in the center near the top that is surrounded on two sides by a solid black square, which is displayed on a deep red background. This piece has been pencil signed and dated by the artist in the lower right margin with the edition number “50-14” written in the center, and the title in the lower left margin. The print has a single white mat and is housed behind plexiglass in a simple metal frame with a wire for hanging to the verso.
Condition
Plexiglass is scratched to the surface.
