A lithograph on paper after an original work titled The Circus Portfolio 11 by well-listed artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (French, 1864-1901). This print of the Post-Impressionist work depicts circus horses and a male performer dragging his whips on the ground in a round arena. The artist’s in-plate monogram is present to the upper right. Under a single layer of white mat, the item is presented under acrylic in a gold-tone wood frame with a low-relief pattern.
Toulouse-Lautrec is well-known for his Post-Impressionist and Art Nouveau work, often of nightlife and entertainment scenes. His work can be found in a variety of prestigious institutions, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Musée d’Orsay, the Art Institute of Chicago and more.
