Foliate Arabesque Embroidered Tapestry

A hand embroidered tapestry. This depicts a delicate foliate arabesque of pink, yellow, and orange, with long curving green leaves, upon scrolling black vines. It has been constructed of interlocking loop stitches upon the off-white ground. It is bordered in three scalloped lines of pink, green, and red. No discernible artist’s or maker’s mark could be found.

Condition

- some wear to the stitches including small sections of loss, particularly seen in one corner, and on the vines.
