Pair of Antique Bisque and Composition Dolls
Item Details
A pair of antique bisque and composition dolls. Both dolls have bisque china heads with hand-painted faces. A jointed doll has a bisque head, marked ‘8’ to the back of the neck, with a blond hair wig. Her jointed body is made of a composite material, with a flesh tone coating. The other doll has brown glass eyes, a painted bisque face, and a brown hair wig. She has bisque china forearms and hands, and the body is stuffed and covered with white kid leather. The doll’s ears have holes drilled through for earrings, which are missing. She wears a white muslin gown trimmed with lace at the neck and sleeves. Her shoes are vinyl and are not original to the doll. The doll is marked ‘DEP [horseshoe symbol] 1900 5’.
