1901 Pan American Exposition Award for The Rookwood Pottery Co.

A 1901 Pan American Exposition Award engraving on paper addressed to the well-known Rookwood Pottery Co. Enclosed in an embellished border, this piece depicts the title of the event stating that it took place in Buffalo, New York. To the center, the depiction of a young woman wearing a feathered headpiece with a miniature buffalo atop and holding pine tree branches. The image was printed after a Raphael Beck (1859 – 1947) original work. To the bottom, an inscription reading ‘A silver medal/ on The Rookwood Pottery/ for installation of their exhibit’. A golden tone stamp and directory’s signatures are present to the lower margin.

Condition

- to fair; paper presents major discoloration, foxing, and tears; due to damage torn paper the piece is comprised of three separated fragments; when fragments put together bottom lower right fragment is missing.
