The wide central area features a gradation from yellow to dark green flanked by vertical stripes of different vibrant colors, including blue, yellow, orange and magenta from left to right. The artist signature is present to the verso, reading ‘E. Hertz’ referring to the artist full name Elizabeth. The title is also handwritten to the verso along with ‘91 VII’. The painting is presented without glass in a silver-tone wood box frame.
Beth Hertz studied with Stanton MacDonald-Wright and was influenced by early 20th-century Synchromism, a modernist American movement that explored the relationship between color and music.
