19th Century Hand-Colored Engraving after John MacWhirter

A 19th century hand-colored engraving on paper by British printmaker David Law (1831 – 1901) after an original painting ittled Loch Katrine (Ellen’s Isle) by very well-listed Scottish landscape painter John MacWhirter (1839 – 1911). The print depicts a stunning glowing mountain fjord lined with reaching tree trunks, craggy mountain peaks, and floating birds. A single small boat floats on the water. The piece was hand-colored in soft shades of yellow, blue, and pink at a later date than the piece’s original printing. MacWhirter’s signature is printed in-plate to the lower left. Both artist’s names and the piece’s title are printed to the lower margin. Presented without matting or framing, awaiting your choice of presentation.
