Item Details

A varnished oil painting on board The oak tree by listed American artist Henry Hammond Ahl (1869 – 1953). This piece depicts an autumnal tree among the woods. Signed by the artist to the lower right corner. Presented without glass, beneath an off-white linen mat, housed in a brushed golden tone frame. There is an aperture on foam backing that reveals the artist’s name and title to the verso.

Condition

- under UV light minor areas of inpainting throughout composition; craquelure present to the upper border of painting; minor abrasion to finish on frame.
