Hand-Knotted Turkish Oushak Medallion Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Turkish Oushak medallion area rug. This semi-curvilinear wool rug is rendered in a palette of cream, coral, pale mauve, orange, and black. It begins with a large cream-colored oval medallion that is seeded with a small, tomato-colored star at the center. The medallion is set in a coral lozenge abutting large spandrels in pale mauve, the spandrels each containing a single palmette amid stylized vines. A wide primary border contains a modified samovar pattern over black. The rug has overcast edges, finishing at either end with short ivory wool warp fringe. It is unmarked.
