1940s Walt Disney's Latin-American Package Films Ephemera

A collection of ephemera relating to Walt Disney’s two Latin-American package films, Saludos Amigos (1942) and The Three Caballeros (1944). This collection features four full-page limited-color cartoons published in Good Housekeeping in 1942 and 1943, headed ‘Mickey Mouse’s Good-Neighbor Page’ in reference to the United States’ ‘Good Neighbor policy’ which encouraged the Disney team to travel to Latin America to make the films; one of these features José Carioca, a friend of Donald Duck who made his début in Saludos Amigos. The other cartoon, also published in Good Housekeeping in 1943, is a summary in illustrations and verse of the featurette ‘El Gaucho Goofy’ from Saludos Amigos. This collection also includes sheet music for the songs ‘Brazil (Aquarela do Brasil)’ from Saludos Amigos (Peer International Corporation, 1942) and ‘You Belong to My Heart (Solamente Una Vez)’ from The Three Caballeros (Promotora Hispana Americana de Musica, S.A., 1943).
