1940s Disney U.S. War Bonds Ads
Item Details
A pair of World-War-II-era advertisements using Disney artwork to promote the sale of U.S. war bonds. This collection includes a full-page ad focusing on General Motors’ military production, which is headed ‘Sea Wolf with Fangs of Fire!’ and prominently features the Walt-Disney-Studios-designed insigne of the ‘Sea Wolf’ Navy air squadron; a box in the lower right includes the message ‘Help Our Carriers Carry On! … Buy War Bonds!’ Also included are two copies of a full-page cartoon from the August 1942 Good Housekeeping titled ‘The Victory March,’ in which Donald Duck’s nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie earn money doing chores and then devise a scheme to resist the temptation of candy and toys in order to ‘Buy United States War Savings Bonds Stamps’ ‘For Victory.’

- in protective sleeves; tear in top edge of one “Victory March”; light page yellowing consistent with age.
