An original landscape oil painting on Royal Board titled Caringbah by Edgar Hatten (1929-1990). The painting expressively depicts a landscape featuring a very healthy bush or tree overtaking a hint of a gray fence, done in a summery green palette. ‘Caringbah’ is handwritten to the back of the board presumably the title and refer to the location in Sydney, Australia (Hatten taught in Australia). The painting is signed in the lower left corner and at the back of the painting with the date 1963. A simple thin wood frame painted beige surrounds the outer edge of the board. .
Edgar Hatten was born in Evanston, Wyoming in 1929 but spent the majority of his life in Los Angeles, California. He taught at Swinbourne College in Australia, and in California at East Los Angeles College and Citrus College. More information about this artist can be found on the link listed below.
