Late 18th Century Ludwigsburg Fine German Porcelain Dinnerware
Item Details
A fine collection of original Ludwigsburg German porcelain dinnerware dated between 1758 and 1806. The original Ludwigsburg Porzellanfabriek was established in 1758, by Herr (Mr) Ringler, under the patronage of Duke Charles Eugene, and closed its doors in 1824. The reason for the factory shutting down was due to poor choice of site, resulting in the high cost of fuel for shipping in clay from some distance away. The double C mark noted on these pieces is one of the first marks used by the factory until 1806, at which time the marks were updated to include a crown. The collection includes approximately fifty pieces of matching china, the pattern features peach colored borders with gold overlay floral motif, on white glazed porcelain. Included is one large serving dish, two serving platters, one creamer pitcher, one sugar bowl, two large serving bowls, six soup bowls, five smaller bowls, ten dinner plates, five bread plates, three extra small bowls, five large saucers, six smaller saucers, six extra small saucers, six extra small plates, four espresso-size teacups, five regular size teacups, two shell-shaped serving dishes and a pitcher. There are faint marks on the china set, some pieces show numbered marks to the undersides, which are hand incised into the clay itself.
