Herend Rothschild Bird Coffee Pot

A Herend of Hungary Rothschild Bird coffee pot with hand painted decoration at the body of the pot illustrating Butterflies and birds perched on a branch with a strand of pearls draped in their beaks. The pattern was first created for the Rothschild family in 1860 telling the tale of the Baroness losing her pearl necklace which was then found in the her Vienna garden by the gardner who saw birds playing with the strand in a tree. The pretty coffee pot has a gold faux bois pattern at the spout, a green vine as the handle and a yellow rose as the finial at the lid. The pot is appropriately stamped at the underside.
