Ugo Mario Original Oil on Canvas "Pursuit of Tartars"

An original oil on canvas titled Pursuit of Tartars by listed, Italian artist Ugo Mario(19th/20th century). This painting depicts two men in medieval Moorish style robes resting their horses in an arid courtyard in front of a modest domed building, and is rendered with muted tones of tan, sand, green, and blue. It is signed by the artist to the lower right and titled to an attached plaque to the bottom center reading “Pursuit of Tartars H. Brandt”. Framer’s label to the verso. This painting is presented in a wood frame with ornate, gilt gesso moulding without glass; fitted with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- large chunks of gilt moulding are missing to two corners of frame revealing support wires underneath; large chip to bottom of frame; could benefit from relining; canvas is loose and sags inward; tear to the center of the canvas; gesso moulding is extremely delicate; torn paper backing; contains pockets of dust; could benefit from cleaning.
