Victorian Horse Hair Parlor Chair in the Style of John Jelliff

An antique Victorian parlor chair in the style of John Jelliff (Norwalk, Conn., 1831-1901) with a notably carved frame featuring a portrait at the top crest. The mahogany chair has burled panels, carved side columns with turned finials and turned legs on castors. The black horse hair upholstered seat is deeply tufted at the back with a round seat.

Condition

The chair is structurally sound with some issues concerning the upholstery. The seat is in good condition with replaced trim, the tufted back is torn at the edges and slightly unraveling.
