19th Century British Oil on Canvas Portrait of a Man

An oil on canvas British portrait of a man, circa the 19th century. This academic portrait depicts a man standing with a scope in his hands. He is shown standing next to a window with an overcast landscape with a boat in the background. This piece is unsigned. It is presented in an ornate gold tone moulded frame with a wire to the verso ready to hang. There is a label on the verso from J.J. Patrickson & Son Ltd, restorators in operation between 1959-1975.

Condition

- craquelure and chipping of paint in a few minor areas; dent toward bottom of canvas, opposite a patch to the verso; signs of overpainting or repair.
