Chinese Zhangzhou Ware Late Ming Dynasty Bowls

A group of two Chinese Zhangzhou ware bowls from the late Ming dynasty (1368-1644). These ceramic earthenware bowls or Swatow ware feature hand-painted quick gestural decoration baskets on the insides. Zhangzhou ware was produced in China and intended for export to southeast Asia in the late Ming dynasty. The larger bowl is marked with a wax export seal to the underside that reads ‘Permission’. The smaller bowl is not marked.

- defect in the clay to the side of the small bowl.
