Hand-colored Engraving "The Play-ground"
Item Details
A hand-colored engraving by Ferdinand Joubert (1810–1884) titled The Play-ground, after an original painting by artist T. Webster. This print depicts a raucous crowd of children seen playing ball, jacks, and spinning tops in a picturesque European countryside. To the lower margin the original painter and engraver are listed, as well as the title of the work. The print is mounted beneath a layer of white matting with a decorative fillet, and is presented behind glass in a decorative frame with a rich, bronze finish and hanging wire present to verso.
