A pair of hand-colored lithographs of English maps. These two maps depict a portion of Surrey and Essex, detailed with notable roads, boroughs and market towns seen on the land mass. Each map was created by Eman Bowen and engraved for the General Magazine of Arts & Sciences, for W. Owen at the Temple Bar (1756). They are both presented under glass in a black wooden frame featuring carved patterning to the surface and hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- toning to prints; both prints have stains to margins;s both have stains to margins; chip to frame to upper left side on Surrey map.
Dimensions
- measures frame; visible image measures: 7.75" w x 7.0" h; both prints measure approximately identical.
