Hand Knotted Antique Mehriban Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Mehriban area rug in wool. This antique Persian rug features a semi-geometric vase design in a madder red field, which also contains boteh and trees. The palette consists of reds, pink, and shades of blue with ivory, browns, and other highlights. Grounded in cerulean, the primary border features a resolved floral and palmette design, flanked on either side by meandering floral guard strips over crimson. The rug has overcast edges and ends in untied wool warp fringe at either end.
Condition
- there is a 2" repair toward one end; the rug has areas of significant wear to the pile as well as loss of pile at frayed edges; the rug could benefit from cleaning.
