A 1954 issue of Britain’s Show Business newspaper with the accompanying G. Harrison Marks pin-up photograph featured on the front page. The 1950s entertainment newspaper regularly featured Harrison Marks’s glamour models to the cover, often curated through future Penthouse publisher Bob Guccione under the moniker of “Gucci Girls”. This particular September 24, 1954 newspaper highlights ‘50s pin-up model Dolores Alvarez (here referred to as “Dolores Alvar”), a “top showgirl and model”. Also included is a pin-up photo card featuring the same Harrison Marks image of Alvarez used on the Show Business cover, depicting Alvarez lying on the ground with legs extended upward. The items included in this lot come from The Guccione Collection, sold exclusively through EBTH by digital media company Jerrick. The items originate from the personal archives of Bob Guccione; media mogul, artist, and founder of Penthouse Magazine. Guccione began his media empire by selling Marks’ pin-up photos by mail-order and promoting the photos in London’s entertainment newspapers.
