A framed offset lithograph after the original Midsummer Eve by Edward Robert Hughes (British, 1851-1914). This work is a fantastic vision of the goddess of summer in the center of a ring of lantern-carrying fairies. The influences of both the Pre-Raphaelites (Hughes’ uncle was a prominent member of the movement) and Aestheticism are visible on the subject and manner. The print is decoratively matted and framed in a wood and gesso frame with gold accents. There is a picture wire on the reverse.
