Hand-Knotted Signed Turkmen Bokhara Area Rug in Blue
Item Details
A hand-knotted signed Turkmen Bokhara area rug. This wool rug is rendered in a palette of midnight blue, cerulean, carnelian, and ivory. It features a pattern of latticed Tekke and Chemche guls over a midnight blue field. The field is framed by multiple borders and guard strips, with horizontal diamond-patterned panels at top and bottom. Woven over the lower panel is a signature, which reads ‘Bonifant.’ Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at either end with knotted ivory cotton warp fringe. The rug is unmarked.
