An original oil painting on cardboard attributed to listed Indiana artist Lucian Lupinski (1918-2002). This selection depicts a scene with a water mill surrounded by a landscape of lush foliage. It bears a label from the estate of Lucian Lupinski to the verso and is unsigned.
Lupinski, a well-known portrait painter, was born in New York but spend a majority of his life in Ohio. The artist studied under Theodore Keane at Ohio State University, at the Grand Central School of Art and the Art Students League in New York, and at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. Lupinski joined the staff of The Saturday Evening Post as an artist in residence in the summer of 1973 where he was given the nickname “Our New Norman Rockwell” and continued painting portraits from photographs and live sittings.
