1930s Reliance Disney Enamel on Glass "The Big Bad Wolf"

Item Details

A framed enamel-on-glass picture of Walt Disney characters, produced by the Reliance Picture Frame Company circa the 1930s. This color reverse glass picture depicts the Three Little Pigs with Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother, the wolf looking in at the window, in a scene from the Silly Symphonies cartoon ‘The Big Bad Wolf’ (1934). The image is captioned at the lower left, ’Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?’ and marked at the lower right, ‘© Walt Disney Enterprises; Reliance – by Permission.’ The cardboard backing reads, in part, ‘D-120; Walt Disney Characters; In colored enamels right on the glass; Mickey Mouse and his Pals of the famous Silly Symphonies are always ready to brighten your home. Reliance and Walt Disney have collaborated to give you the best poses and scenes in the most colorful form of reproduction (hand processed enamels right on the glass) and the delightful antics of those characters are now preserved for you forever, just as they are in many art museums, as examples of the Disney Art.’
