Exceptional Original Painting "Pine Bed" by Michael Scott

Item Details

An exceptional oil on canvas, monumental in size, titled Pine Bed by renowned American artist Michael Scott (b. 1952). This outstanding example of Scott’s work depicts a fanciful forest landscape with tall thin shaggy bark trees dripping in moss and rock clusters at the edge of a stream in the lower composition. What makes this landscape mesmerizing is the unusual palette, both vivid and tonal from intense orange to dusky blues. The work is signed in the lower right corner and is presented in complimenting wide mold wood frame. The gallery label remains affixed to the back along with a label listing the paintings exhibition tour for the Biennial Exhibition of Contemporary American Painters; from The Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, DC in April 1989 to the Horton Gallery of Art in S. Carolina in December 1989.

Michael Scott received his bachelor degree from the Kansas City Art Institute and his MFA from the University of Cincinnati in 1978. His work has been extensively exhibited and can been found in prestigious private collections and museums including the Cincinnati Art Museum, the New Orleans Museum of Art, the JB Speed Museum in Kentucky, and the Hunter Museum of Art in Tennessee, to name a few.
