An original acrylic painting on board by Richard C. Guy of an original photograph by Matthew Brady. This piece depicts the famous confederate general Robert E. Lee in uniform and leaning on his sword. The painting is signed by hand to the lower right corner in paint. Mounted under a single layer of gray matting, the painting is presented under glass in a stained wood frame. A hanging wire and a descriptive decal are present to verso. Richard Guy (1928-2014) was an illustrator and painter whose work focused on historical sites and landmarks both in and outside of Washington, DC. Guy was particularly interested in the Civil War and was known for his portraits of military figures.
Condition
- frame has very small nicks across the front top and bottom areas.
