Chinese Yixing Ceramic Teapot

Item Details

A Chinese Yixing clay teapot. The small teapot features a dragon’s scaled neck and head as the spout. The vessel’s body is adorned with stylized depictions of the beast’s legs and talons. The ear shaped handle is comprised of another dragon head. The lid’s handle is formed with two additional dragon heads, their mouths meeting to support a small globe finial. The pot has a burnt sienna patina over a black base. The underside is stamped ‘Yixing, China’ (中國宜興 Zhongguo Yixing).
