Dennis Thompson Dragon Egg Stoneware Sculpture

A Dennis Thompson dragon egg stoneware sculpture. The egg shows a hole and cracks in the egg with the face of a dragon peering out. The piece has a glazed finish and is signed Thompson on the bottom of the eggs. Dennis Thompson produces original sculptural fantasy figures using porcelain and stoneware clays and gemstone embellishments. The eggs are thrown on a potters wheel, dried to a leather texture then broken open. Once the dragon or dragon parts are sculpted they are added to the eggs. The entire piece is then bisque fired, cooled, glazed and fired again. A companion piece can be found with item number 17CIN099-019.
