Ceramic Polar Bears From Hutschenreuther, Royal Dux, B&G
Item Details
A group of white glazed hand-painted ceramic polar bears. Two bears with outstretched necks appear to be sniffing and one bear is seated with the left front paw reaching forward. The largest bear’s body has a gold foil triangle sticker, ‘Royal Dux Bohemia,’ and is stamped on the belly, ‘Royal Dux Made in Czechoslovakia.’ The smaller standing bear is the Bing and Grondahl figurine, Polar Bear Sniffing, No.1692, by Niels Nielse with markings to the bottom of the paws. The seated polar bear is stamped on the underside, ‘Hutschenreuther Germany Kunstabtellung’ with an incised mark, ‘Achtziger W.’
